Ernest Gay Obituary

Ernest R. “Cheenis” Gay, 67 of Mooers passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024 at UVM Health Network at CVPH.  

 

He was born March 20, 1956 in Plattsburgh, the son of Austin Jr. and Loretta (Lucia) Gay.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool, watching wrestling and playing slots.  He loved spending time with his granddogs.  

 

Cheenis was predeceased by his parents; one son, Robert Gay; his brother, Joseph Gay; one son in law, Daniel Vincent; three brothers in law, Danny Boulerice, Henry Parrot and Steve Savage.  

 

Left to cherish memories of Cheenis are his longtime companion, Debbie Rabideau of Mooers; one son, Ernest Gay Jr.; six daughters, Melissa Rabideau and her significant other, Alan Miller, Tina Vincent, Sherry Rogers and her husband Chris, Jessica Graves, Natasha Lashway and her significant other Robert Zwart, Tiffany Bolia and her significant other Josh McSweenie; seven sisters, Mary LaBarge and her husband Clarence, Margie Secore and her husband Billy, Laura Secore and her husband Donald, Sharron LaBarge and her husband Heyward, Shirley Savage, Susan LaPlante and her husband Daniel and Cathy Boulerice.  He is further survived by 19 grandchildren; five great grandchildren with two on the way; four godchildren and a sister in law Becky Ryan.

 

A special thank you goes out to his best friend, Adam Clegg and his sister Shirley Savage for the wonderful care and great memories.

 

Calling hours will be Friday, March 1, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 at the Ross Funeral Home in Mooers.
