Norman Koslofsky Obituary


Norman Koslofsky, 86 of Champlain passed away Friday, November 9, 2024 at the Essex Center Nursing Home in Elizabethtown.  

He was born February 25, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY the son of Abraham and Dora (Engel) Koslofsky.  He graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School in 1954, Albany State Teachers College in 1958 and he earned his masters degree at Hofstra University.  He worked at Shenendehowa Central School as a Social Studies teacher from 1958-1960, Deer Park High School on Long Island from 1960-1968 as a Social Studies teacher, Eastwood Junior High School in Syracuse as Principal from 1970-1973, African Road Junior High School in Vestal as Principal from 1973-1978, Norwood-Norfolk Junior High School in Norwood as Principal from 1978-1992, Westport Central School in Westport as Superintendent from 1992-1996 and a part time real estate appraiser for Century 21.  Norman was a member of Kiwanis of Rouses Point/Champlain and was the past president, a member of the North Country Center for Independence where he was past Board President, a member of the Radio Reading Service for Visually Impaired and a member of the Village of Champlain Planning Board.He enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles as well as solitaire, walking, biking and travel.  

He was predeceased by his parents; one daughter, Carrie Koslofsky and a cousin, Ruth Remer.

Left to cherish memories of Norman are his wife, Janice Koslofsky of Champlain; his sons, Robert Koslofsky of Maryland and his daughter, Lynne Koslofsky of Pennsylvania, and Daniel Koslofsky and his wife Maureen, their son Abe Koslofsky of California; his step daughter, Sharlene Bedard and her husband Charles of Mooers, NY, step grandson, Dylan Bedard of Mooers, NY; one brother, Marvin Koslofsky of California.

A funeral service will be Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 12:00 noon at the Ross Funeral Home in Mooers with Rabbi David Joslin officiating.
